One of the "World's" Best Family Resorts by Gail Woloz
Best resort, best spa, best tennis, and best family hotel in North America as rated by Travel + Leisure 2009 World’s Best Awards………….Enchantment Resort - surrounded by majestic red rock formations and the rugged grandeur of Native American culture, Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona has lots to offer for the entire family and especially for the kids at Camp Coyote.
“Camp Coyote” – a program designed to educate and entertain children ages 4-12. Trained counselors guide camp-goers in exciting activities that explore the region’s culture and natural environment. Highlights include nature walks, sculpting pottery, star gazing, obstacle courses and painting. Native American influenced arts and crafts include sand painting, beadwork, weaving dream catchers and designing arrowhead necklaces. There’s also scavenger hunts, outdoor games and Southwestern-inspired cooking classes. Nature adventures teach children about the areas plants, insects, mule and white-tailed deer, jackrabbits and other inhabitants. In the summer, kids can cool off with the dive-in movies in the pool, swimming and pool games. Each day has a different theme with corresponding events.
Guests of Enchantment Resort enjoy hiking, tennis, swimming, mountain biking, a par-three golf course and putting green, croquet, bocce ball and ping pong. Enchantment is an Arizona family resort with all the activities you need to make for great family vacation! Enchantment also has culinary activities including cooking demonstrations, organic composting, wine tastings and a “Journey of Teas” exploration.
On property is an ongoing fitness program at the destination spa Mii amo. Here there are a vast array of activities including yoga, dance and excursions off property. Plus daily fitness classes include Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Flow, Asian Fusion, Back on Track, Bosu, Pilates, Qigong and Tai Chi. They seem to cover just about everything!
What further classifies this resort as a great family vacation is its choice of accommodations. There are luxury rooms, and Casitas and Haciendas with kitchens. There are one bedroom, two bedroom and Jr. Suites all that have families in mind! The casitas are my personal favorite for families because they can accommodate as little or as many as you need at a great value. They also have an outdoor deck with a gas grill. They are your home away from home!
If cooking is not on your agenda while on vacation; well then look no further than the AAA Four Diamond rated Yavapai Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. The restaurant offers breathtaking view of the area through massive windows that provide a 180-degree view. Of course there are other dining options at Enchantment and in the surrounding Sedona area.
Enchantment Resort in Sedona is just two hours’ drive north of Phoenix or a two and one-half hours south of the Grand Canyon. At an elevation of 4500 feet, Sedona enjoys moderate weather year round and is known worldwide for its red rock beauty.
Whether you plan a weekend or a week at the Enchantment Resort, I can assure your family a memorable time together!
